summer top has a comfortable square neckline - flattering but not too revealing!
The neckline and armbands on the cap sleeves are both enhanced with a pretty
picot edge.
Knitted on a Brother machine, this is a 24 stitch Brother Fine Lace pattern. The pattern is written for 4 ply Acrylic yarn and is available in sizes 34"-40" |

| A simple lace top or 'shell' with a round neck and
cap sleeves.
This top, in 100% Acrylic, knits beautifully in summer colours, but would also make a nice top for 'under suit wear' in between seasons. For a festive version, try black glitter yarn or add a fine metallic or nylon light-reflective filament. The 24 stitch lace pattern is suitable for Brother (or Toyota) machines, though Knitmaster/Silver owners should be able to find a similar lace pattern. Available in sizes 34"-40" |

V neck sweater knitted in
Yeoman Panama Acrylic/cotton mix is finished with a border of 24
stitch Fair Isle design. The ribbed borders and cuffs provide warmth
but experienced knitters could make hems instead for a less defined fit.

| This is the same Acrylic/cotton mix sweater as above but made with short sleeves and knitted white to give a more summery look. The Fair Isle borders can, of course, be omitted and the garments knitted in plain stocking stitch. |  |

Here is another short sleeved summer top with semi set in sleeves, this time designed with a round neck and optional cable detail on the centre front. The coloured pattern was purely by chance as the garment was knitted in a space-dyed 4 ply Acrylic yarn. | |||
| Most of the garments in this book are designed with semi set in sleeves. These are a convenient shape to knit and to set in to the garments; the shoulder seam is moved up to the correct position on the edge of the shoulder (even though the shape itself is based on an adaptation of the drop shoulder style) and it is comfortable and easy to wear. Book 8 has a photograph of the sleeve detail. | ||||
