The first pattern in
Book 22 is a longer
length, stocking stitch sweater with optional pockets (with hidden pocket
bags - not difficult, but a professional finish) and a straightforward
English rib cowl collar.
Pattern instructions are also given for a plainer version of this
sweater, with no pockets and with a conventional round neckline. Drop
shoulders.
Knitted in Denys Brunton's 4 ply Acrylic yarn, this pattern is written
for sizes 32"-42" |
| Similar to the purple sweater above, this longer
length sweater has an all-over modern Fair Isle design (2 colours) and a
conventional round neckline.
For a different look, pattern instructions are also given for the
cowl
collar (from the purple sweater)

borders.

A longline sweater with a deep Fair Isle border pattern. The design at
the bottom of the border is repeated on the sleeves and on the stand up
collar. The sweater is finished with a narrow ribbed welt.

for this garment.

The red and black sweater is slightly different
from the others in the book as it has square armholes and the tops of the
sleeves are trimmed with ribbing in the contrast colour (black) and frames
the Fair Isle pattern of the sweater yoke.
The contrast colour is continued onto the cuffs, the welt and the warm
polo collar.

| With a little care, many
of the design features of these garments may be mixed-and-matched, new
knitters are reminded that stocking stitch and Fair Isle tensions are not
the same and this may affect, for example, the number of stitches picked
up for some of the neckbands. |
