Designed to fit chest sizes 38"-44" (97-112cm), this

Man's tuck
stitch sweater, classic drop shoulder, round neck, as above. Designed to
fit chest sizes 38"-44" (97-112cm).
The pattern is written for the purl side of the knitting as the right
side, but you might also like to knit a second sweater by using the knit
side of the knitting as the right side - this gives a ribbed effect
without the use of a ribber (new knitters - take care when putting the
garment together and make notes on the pattern first!).
Knitted in 4 ply Acrylic yarn, this tuck stitch design is suitable for
all standard gauge punchcard or electronic machines, with or without
ribber (see above). The tuck stitch pattern is a 2 stitch repeat.

(Not the best
picture for this one, these pictures are scanned from the originals of the
books, which were produced with software which is no longer available).
The sample garment for this man's design was knitted in light
grey and blue shades from Forsell Shamal's range of 80%Acrylic/20% wool
yarns, the stitch pattern is a traditional Argyll (Fair Isle) pattern
which is a perennial classic design. Designed to fit chest sizes 38"-44"
(97-112cm).
Classic drop shoulder, round neck design, this pattern is suitable for
all standard gauge punchcard or electronic machines, with or without
ribber (see above). The Fair Isle pattern is a 12 stitch repeat.
|
| These garments
are all designed for 4ply yarns, either 4 ply Acrylic or 4 ply
80%Acrylic/20%wool as stated above, please refer to your pattern book for
more details. Not all 4 ply yarns knit to the same tension, even the dying
process can alter the thickness of the yarn slightly, so please check your
tension before commencing work.
Tip for new knitters: these
simple shapes are a good choice when you are using a different yarn
because minor differences in tension can often be 'absorbed' into the
making up, with care. However, when attaching neckbands it is
important that you only use the number of stitches as a guide, if
your tension is different from ours, then the stitches you need to pick up
at the neckline could be slightly more or slightly fewer. The only
way to get a perfect finish (and experienced knitters do this
automatically) is to offer the neckline to the needlebed, pick up the end
stitches and the centre stitch, and gradually pick up the stitches in
between, evenly. This avoids any stretching or gathering of the neckband.
The final number of stitches should now be evenly spaced along the
neckline and should be, as a check, reasonably close to the number of
stitches stated in the pattern.
*Toyota machines can use the same lace pattern, but the punchcard has
to be turned over (back to front).
