Tuck Stitch Designs for
Ladies, Vol 2
All of the patterns in this book are
suitable for 24 stitch punchcard or electronic machines with ribber. |
|

|
This is a classic, set in sleeve, longer
length lady's jacket knitted in 4 ply yarn throughout.
The body and sleeves are knitted in a 24 stitch tuck stitch design; the
neckband is made in rib (carefully tensioned for a perfect finish) and the
remaining borders and bands are knitted in a Fair Isle pattern which
complements perfectly the tuck stitch design.
The yarn used for the original garment was Spectrum Tango which was a
mix of 80% Acrylic and 20% wool; Forsell's Shamal 4 ply, or any good
quality yarn with a similar mix, should substitute quite well.
Designed to fit ladies' sizes 32"-46" (81-117cm). Sizes
32"-38" take one cone of the main colour, the larger sizes will
require extra yarn. Approximately 100g of contrast yarn is needed for the
Fair Isle borders. |

|
A classic tuck stitch, longer length
sweater for ladies; the 24 stitch tuck stitch design was created to
provide the kind of look that is normally only available to owners of
garter carriages - without the cost.
Although this is described as "drop shoulder", we would now
call it a square armhole as it has a generous cutaway to move the shoulder
line close to its more natural position at the top of the yarn.
Designed to fit lady's sizes 32"-50" (81-127cm), sizes
44" and over will require more than one 500g cone of good quality 4
ply Acrylic (we used Spectrum Linaria). |

|
Another classic 4 ply, tuck stitch
sweater, styled with square armholes (see above) and a narrower neckband.
Designed to fit ladies' sizes 32"-50" (81-127cm); sizes
44" and over will require more than one 500g cone of yarn. We used
Spectrum Tango 4 ply, a mix of 80% Acrylic and 20% wool, similar yarns
should substitute quite well. |

|
Knitted in good quality Acrylic 4 ply yarn
(we used Spectrum Linaria), this V neck sweater can be worn conventionally
or it can be worn over a t-shirt or roll collar top for a completely
different look. The square armholes keep the shoulder line high whilst
providing an easy shape to knit and construct and plenty of ease if worn
over another long sleeved garment.
The 24 stitch design is based on a diamond shape and could be adapted
to a 12 stitch design for other machines if required.
Sized to fit ladies' sizes 32"-50", sizes 44" and over
will require more than one 500g cone of yarn. |

|
An elegant roll collar tops this tuck
stitch sweater, the stitch pattern of which closely resembles basketweave.
Longer length, with square armholes, sized to fit ladies' sizes
32"-50" (81-127cm), sizes 44" and over will require more
than one 500g cone of yarn. We used Spectrum Tango, 80% Acrylic 20% wool. |
| Tension is always important - even when the
correct yarn is used. Different colours and shades often knit up to
different tensions as the bleaches and colourants cause changes in the
yarns. Some of these garments were originally knitted in Spectrum's
Linaria yarn, a good quality 4 ply 100% Acrylic yarn; the other garments
were knitted in Spectrum Tango, 80% Acrylic mixed with 20% wool. Similar
yarns should knit up to similar tensions - but a tension square should
always be made first! |
